The GIS Policy Council is overseeing the development of a modernized GIS Strategic Plan for West Virginia. The State Steering Committee, chaired by the State GIS Coordinator and appointed by the GIS Policy Council, is charged with development and implementation of the plan in collaboration with West Virginia's GIS community.
The Steering Committee worked hard developing a Statewide GIS Strategic Plan. In order to make the planning process as transparent as possible; planning progress reports and drafts, as they become available, were distributed among all members of the Steering Committee for comment and input.
On January 26st 2011, the plan was be presented to the GIS Policy Council and approved unanimously.
